Original Psalms by Walterrean Salley

Mid the pressures of life,
I cling to him the more.
Like lint to a garment.
Or like two magnetic poles.
The greater the pressure,
The tighter the grip.
For he is my life
And without him, I'm zip.

As sure as the morning dawns--
Lord, daily, make me faithful
Above all my trials and tribulations.

May I be as the oak unshaken
In resistance to the challenges
That life’s harsh elements present.

Peering through the dark,
I wait in silence--
Ever looking up.

Within the distance
Is a quasar;
A sign of hope.
Betimes blur.
Betimes faint.
Nonetheless,
How comforting
Such an emblem-
‘Tho it be far.

The night is long
And hard to endure.
The road of bends and pitfalls
Is ever winding.
And yet he leads me forward.
The Lord is my guide.

If my eyes no more
Shall see the light
Of this world,
Lord may I behold you
In heaven’s glory.
In your bosom, there
To find abiding rest.
