A New Year's Bitter-Sweet Moments

This year the masses
Will be so glad
To ring in a New Year -
After one most sad.

From 2020 to twenty-one,
We're looming near
With hope and prayer.
And 'tears' amid cheer.

Tears for those left -
Who didn't make the trek.
And for fires, COVID,
And riots. Oh heck!

Being locked in 2020
With 12 months of taunt
Leaves a nightmare affect -
If I might be blunt.

I assure you that COVID's
No joke nor stunt -
But a driving force,
Which no one could want.

So let us move forward
With courage of heart.
And a measure of hope.
And a fresh-new start.
